This time is used to work on technique, dance expressions, and becoming closer to God using words and our movement. both Annointed and Annointed Too are positive, uplifting groups that are encouraging inside and outside of class. Although it is enjoyable, it is a commitment from September through June where participants are expected to attend regularly due to the progression of material learned and possible upcoming performances. Annointed Too, by invitation of Dr. Karen Johnson, professor at Eastern University presented for the second year for the “O,YES conference. The annual event sponsored by Eastern University using the acronym O, YES! (Our Youth Enlightened about Sex) was held on July 26 and 27 and was designed to inform middle school and high school students and youth workers from the Philadelphia and suburban areas about topics related to sex, relationships, and sexual health. This two-day event featured a host of esteemed guests from area universities and ministries. Annointed Too performed two dances to help set the tone and received much enthusiasm from the encouraged presenters and participants. “Be Transformed” was the theme used to engage the participants in dynamic workshops. Being a part of this event continues to broadened our scope of influence as we seek to reach new audiences through dance.
